Based on my original storyboard for adapting Emma Zunz, I isolated the environments needed and set out to make some field recordings to have available. These would also serve as a base layer for all other SFX to sit on.

After consulting Martin and Roderick, I booked out the Sennheiser Ambeo VR Mic (seen below) for a few field and indoor ambisonic recordings of residential areas, public parks and indoor.

This mic records 4-channel, A-Format which I then converted onto B-Format using Sennheiser’s Ambeo Plugin for Reaper.

I was curious about the conversion as I didn’t have time to check out the plugin before I went out to record. All field recordings were done using a Rycote with the mic fitted and pointed in the endfire position, whereas indoor recordings were done upright. The plugin was very easy to use. The result of this process yielded 42 files of fantastic, 4-channel, b-Format goodness to use for the project.
